Gamemaker Game Maker 8 review

Posted : 13 years, 6 months ago on 19 October 2010 02:05 (A review of Gamemaker Game Maker 8)

Free and can theoretically run in a browser. The rare game is great but most are not worth any of your time. Unfortunately the site isn't very good at picking them out. I will be making a list of games i found to be good. Compares to flash games. Promises simplification of programing. The way it does this is the reason i still follow the engine. Has trouble with networking.

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex review

Posted : 13 years, 6 months ago on 18 October 2010 05:46 (A review of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex)

Great action sequences but the philosophy and politics don't make sense to me if only because i cant think as fast as they talk. Also i cant sympathize with ppl who put their brains in a robot and could be stuck in virtual reality. No wait i cant watch a show that could all be a virtual reality.

Planetes review

Posted : 13 years, 6 months ago on 18 October 2010 05:32 (A review of Planetes)

Good op. Very Hard SF for anime. Edit: Watched long ago. Much of the show is comedy and some romance. The comedy may undermine drama and tension. The first part of the show is episodic.
I suppose it is really about average people in a very interesting job and that is its main intended appeal.
The dub is not horrible its just bad.

Letter Bee review

This may be a show about little kids but i think its aimed at much older ppl. Adorable. Tear jerker or just more adorable depending on how seriously you can take it.
Nothing about this show is wrong except quantity of melodrama. Apparently being REALLY sensitive is the way to defeat the monsters. Everyone cries except Niche. Note that this is better than anime where characters don't notice tragedy around them or act as if they don't.

Good sense of humor. Lag the postman and Steak the rat. No problems in animation. Lots of unique art and atmosphere. Kind of surreal: Reminds me of Little Prince (book) and Soul Eater (series). Good music. Includes Gregorian chants and harpsichord i think. Action elements are few but good. Adventure too.
No wait the series breaks logic for melodrama. Why does gauche not send a letter. Why does Jiggy Pepper not visit?

World of Battles review

Posted : 13 years, 6 months ago on 16 October 2010 02:50 (A review of World of Battles)

MMO RTT (like shattered galaxy) Graphics, controls and other stuff are good. Game is broken by the sever advantage given to levels. While its vs multiplayer grind it has not many players or single player missions. Also the gameplay is rather simple. This may be just because its in beta development but idk. For an example of a better version of this game see warhammer : dark omen and maybe successors.

World of Tanks review

Posted : 13 years, 6 months ago on 10 October 2010 04:35 (A review of World of Tanks)

Good emmersion. Unique gameplay. Crawling and waiting to snipe is boring. Balance of HV tanks being way too hard too kill and some other stuff.

Idk why game sites keep calling this an rts but it looks good. It has good immersion i think. Its worth checking out but at some point stop because it all becomes repetitive.

After playing for a while i can tell you the serious realism was a mistake. It causes tedium. Having to crawl to your sniping position then wait is not fast paced.

Also "Being a tier 5 tank destroyer up against tier 8 and 9 tanks that you can not penetrate the armor of is maddening and will repeatedly occur which makes gaining experience a real pain as a loss can result in a huge cut to experience earned" [Link removed - login to see]

Army Men: RTS review

Posted : 13 years, 6 months ago on 9 October 2010 12:44 (A review of Army Men: RTS)

Now free see the videos.
Wikipedia:
Army Men: RTS is a game in the Army Men video game series. It is a real time strategy game. The game includes 15 campaign missions, 8 "special operation" missions and 8 "great battles" missions. The game revolves around collecting resources (Plastic & Electricity) and using it to build structures and troops while fighting the tan army. Each structure/soldier requires a certain amount of resources. The game is heavily based on the movie "Apocalypse Now", as the player has to hunt down an insane colonel.[4] It is the final game released by 3DO in the series.

Heroes of Might and Magic V review

Posted : 13 years, 6 months ago on 7 October 2010 11:24 (A review of Heroes of Might and Magic V)

Very pretty towns and overall. I don't like it because of the population per week limits. A strategy game would require more decision but here the population limits prevent making any actual decisions.

To win wait until you can beat the newts with few losses before fighting and build a capitol asap. Also the pop increasing castle.

Worldshift review

WorldShift is a science fiction tactical rpg video game released in 2008 by Crytek Black Sea, the same studio that developed Knights of Honor.
-wikipedia
Most ppl on the net write that its beautiful but not very deep strategy.
Some sites call this an mmorts and it seems to qualify by other game's mmo definition. Here is what the site says:
# The items represent things like technologies, policies, or special training. They are equipped for the faction as a whole, not for an individual โ€˜heroโ€™. For example, if an item gives an armor bonus to the Trooper unit type, equipping it will affect all Troopers that you use in subsequent missions.
# You can extract items from artifacts, receive them as awards for completing a mission, or buy them with the battle points you have earned in deathmatches. Artifacts can be found just lying around the map in most game modes but the ones yielding the best items are dropped by the bosses in cooperative games.
# You keep the unequipped items in a common inventory area for all factions.
# The specializations are arranged in specialization trees similar to the skill trees in role-playing games. Every faction has is own skill tree...
# The best cooperative, player-vs-environment gameplay ever made in RTS game
